Commissioning, Pricing & shipping
I work with a wide range of clients and send maps and globes all over the world. I mostly design and make maps for private clients - but I also welcome commercial, media, corporate and educational projects. I am based in Australia, but travel frequently and am happy to work on larger pieces in situ, if required. I have made or assembled customised maps in schools, offices and shops and am happy to discuss larger-scale project work too. Small projects for individuals are just as welcome!

Some former clients include: Dame Judy Dench; The Eden Project, Cornwall, UK; Mesmerise Global, London; Mornignstar, Inc, USA; Red Oaks Primary School, Wiltshire, UK; St Louis International School, Milan, Italy; ChiroEurope, Mallorca, Spain; Dart Container Corp, Michigan, USA; Melville City Council, Western Australia; Terra Rosa Consulting, Fremantle Australia; University of Western Australia; Fothergills of Fremantle, Australia; Fremantle Sailing Club, Western Australia
Pricing
Because every map is individually designed and all the details are handmade, each map is unique and the prices vary greatly. I have created a separate pricing page to give you an idea of what the maps types and size of maps cost. Please only use this as a guideline and feel free to contact me directly for a more accurate map quote. If you already have a specific map location in mind, or are working with a limited budget, please don't hesitate to let me know - I will always see what I can do for you!
Timing and Availability
I work closely with my clients to create unique and individual pieces that are designed to stand the test of time and become much-loved family heirlooms. Maps can take anything from a few days to many months to make. Waiting times vary throughout the year. If you are in a hurry, please check with me, but a minimum of 6-8 weeks notice is normally required.
If you are in a rush, I sometimes have stock of my most popular maps (normally the World Maps and Maps of Australia), which can be added to or altered slightly - but the majority of my maps are created to commission.
Ordering and Deposit - What information I need from you to get started!
Before I start work, I normally ask the client to provide me with a detailed list of all the things they want on their map. This list can be written on the back of an envelope or a ten page essay - as simple or as detailed as the client likes. If the client is happy to leave it in my hands, then a simple list of cities or countries to be featured will suffice. However, the more information I have at my disposal, the more detailed, humorous and personal the map becomes.
Most people enjoy being involved and in my mind, part of the joy of commissioning a bespoke map is the memories it evokes and the conversations it inspires. A lot of enjoyment comes from deciding the details and events you want to feature. I also like to consult and ask questions as I go along, so the opportunity to add things as the map progresses is always a possibility.
Once the list is received I can quote more accurately for both timing and price. Once everything is agreed I take a 25-50% deposit as confirmation of the order. The balance is due on safe delivery.
Packing and Shipping
Maps and globes are carefully boxed, packaged and insured, to ensure they arrive safely at their destination. Small pieces can be sent in the post, but large work is usually delivered by courier. If you need a quote or estimate for shipping, please let me know.
Import Taxes
I run a small business and am not eligible to charge GST (Australian Government Sales Tax) on my work.
Please keep in mind when calculating your budget, that work shipped overseas is often subject to import duties in the destination country. For insurance purposes, I have to declare a value for the work when it is shipped - and this is usually used by customs to calculate any import duty owed in your home country. This amount differs from country to country.
All import duties and taxes are paid by the client and it is up to them to calculate the extra amount it may add to their order.
If you are interested in knowing what I currently have in stock, or in commissioning a map, please don't hesitate to contact me for further information and details on pricing, timing and shipping.
